Quiet Night Prayer is a chapel pressed into a book-width space: pointed arches, a rose window at the end, pews running back and printed glass that lights from behind. It is the stillest thing we make.
The glass panels are what take the time, and they must go in before the arcade closes over them. The arcade itself repeats, so once you have built two bays the rest goes quickly. Lighting sits behind the rose window only, which is why the finished nook looks like one source rather than a lit box.
It sits mid-shelf of 5 book nooks, builders have left it 4.2 out of five across 659 notes, and the current run is nearly through.
We design our book nooks the way we design the dollhouse kits: a story first, then the rooms the story needs, then the boxes of loose parts — flowers, lanterns, crates — that make the little world of Quiet Night Prayer look lived in. Every piece of this DIY miniature house kit is cut and test-built in our own workshop.
Every Flever book nook is designed and cut in our own workshop, and built once on our bench before the first one is packed.
Other book nooks we cut in the same workshop.
