Old Times is a set of scenes built inside hinged metal tins: open them and a furnished room unfolds across the lid and the base, close them and they stack in a drawer. It is the most portable thing we make and the most surprising to hand to somebody.
The tins come printed and hinged; the work is the interior. Because the space is shallow, placement is everything and there is no room for a piece sitting proud. Short build, high detail. A sensible choice if you travel and want a project that fits in a bag.

A tin has room for one idea, so Old Times is designed by subtraction: we draw the rooms of a larger dollhouse scene, then take away everything the story can live without, down to two paper flowers and a shelf of jars. Boxes this small still get the same build and the same booklet as our largest DIY miniature house kit.
